PARENT LETTER
September 2, 2026
Dear TCES Families,
It is a pleasure to have your child attending Tuba City Elementary School! We are grateful for the opportunity to work with your child each day and are committed to providing a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment where every student can grow and succeed.
📚 Helping Every Child Become a Strong, Confident Reader
This month, we are highlighting the Science of Reading—the research behind how children learn to read and what that research means for instruction in our classrooms.
At TCES, we are focused on helping every child become a strong, confident reader. Our teachers use research-based instructional practices to build students' skills in phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and language development.
Families play an important role in developing strong readers. Please have your child read for at least 20 minutes each night. Your child may read independently, read aloud to you, listen to you read, or take turns reading with a family member. Even a few minutes of reading together each day can make a meaningful difference.
We encourage you to ask your child questions about what they are reading, talk about new words, and have them share what they learned. Most importantly, help your child see reading as something enjoyable and valuable!
🤝 Parent-Teacher Conferences
We invite all parents and guardians to attend our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Conference Times: 🕐 1:00–4:00 p.m.
🕔 5:00–7:00 p.m.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, discuss your child's academic progress and classroom experience, celebrate strengths, and work together to identify ways we can continue supporting your child's success.
Your partnership is an important part of your child's education, and we look forward to seeing you! Thank you for your continued support of Tuba City Elementary School. Together, we can help every child learn, grow, and become a strong, confident reader.
The Little Warrior Way!
With appreciation,
Ms. Jerilyn Tsinigine, Principal
Mrs. Cheryl Piestewa, Assistant Principal
